How to Pick a Wordlock Cable Lock

My kid put his WordLock cable bike lock in the garage in fall and forgot the combination.   He was sure the combo was the word WARS but when that didn't open the lock, I decided to attempt

I started with a brute force attack, but realized that this was going to take a long time, so I contemplated how else I could do this.

I noticed that I could feel the when the combination was lining up.  Here's the video on how I did it.
