I Built a Wood Gantry
Last year I lost the drive in my boat motor. Upon some investigation, it seemed that replacing the outboard would be a better solution to repairing it. I found another motor that I was told runs, for $300, but to test it, I need to get it plugged into the controls and the fuel supply.
I soon realized that this engine is quite the monster, making lifting it quite the challenge. I used two ladders, with a 2x4 and a pulley to lift the motor off the ground to get it onto this stand.
I realized that I have no way to get the existing motor off my boat, and no way to mount this motor onto my boat. After a lot of thinking I decided the best solution was to build a gantry which I can put a pulley or crane onto. In this video I highlight how I built the gantry.
