Don't Support these Guys.

Don't support these guys. Why? Simple. I've taken a new approach. I hate Spam and in your face advertising. A German Singer/Songwriter named Reinhard Mey said it very well when referring to wathcing a movie that was being interrupted by commercials. "I pay attention to those companies that advertise, and then I don't buy any of their products. You see, I tell myself, I can't buy the coffee in the morning from the company that steals my time in the evening."

So with this very reasoning in mind I've decided to have the same approach. These Gentlemen spammed me today. So they stole my time, and internet bandwidth in attempt to sell me a service I don't want, nor need. Since there's little I despise more than spam; I urge you to use a competitor that doesn't solicit via spam when you purchase or sell your next home.

What incredibly stupid 'reasoning'. Do you even know how tv works? The COMMERCIALS pay for the shows so YOU don't have to. If you and this other German hate commercials so much then rent a damn DVD! Do you think you are entitled to free television or something? Looking at the other posts about your issues with USB drives and the whole returning game you play with retailers, as well as your exploitation of mail in rebates, you seem to feel entitled to destroy products you buy, and then return them for a full refund, or just steal them outright, which is basically what you did with the router.

What a complete lack of respect you have for capitalism -- are you and this Mey guy Socialists or something? Would you prefer state-run 'free' TV? Maybe you should join a National Socialist party from Germany -- maybe come up with a clever nickname for it: NA-somthing or other.

I think this outrageous sense of entitlement must be a uniquely German thing: you feel entitled to entertainment, electronics, Poland. Where does it end?

Let me focus on your comments, as I don't want to spark a long debate, we'll need to agree to disagree.

1. The COMMERCIALS pay for the shows so YOU don't have to.. Well.. Sorry. $60.00 per month on Cable access means I do pay for TV. Sorry. Your incorrect. I understand that my 60.00 pays the cable provider not the production of the show, but I’m still paying for the television content. If you need commercials, put them at the top of the hour, so I’m not forced to watch them whem I watch TV. (Truth be told. I watch very little TV, mostly for this reason)

2. If you and this other German hate commercials so much then rent a damn DVD!

To insinuate that hate for commercials is an ethnic thing, is an incorrect and outrageous generalization. So I'll disregard that racial slur... I rent DVDs, and up I PAY for these rented DVDs, obviously. But looky, advertisements on some DVDs that you can’t bypass by hitting the menu button. Double dipping in revenues are we?

3. Do you think you are entitled to free television or something?
Yes and no. Part of My tax dollars go to funding the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation. If anything, I should get that channel commercial free. The way I see it. If I get it free over antenna, Then advertising is fine. If I pay for it on my cable bill, or via taxes then I shouldn’t be fed advertisements.

4. Looking at the other posts about your issues with USB drives and the whole returning game you play with retailers.
Returning Game? No. I spend good money on items. I have an expectation of quality, which you obviously do not. If an item breaks within the warranty period and I bring it back, there’s absolutely no game being played here. If a retailer offers a refund on an item I’m not happy with; where's the problem with the return? Do you believe all sales should be final all the time?

5. As for my mail in rebate/router. Steal? I did not. I paid for the router. The manufacturer’s mail in rebate has no effect on the Futureshop Bottom line. Furthermore. This was a voluntary offer Futureshop offered to me. I didn’t force this offer on them, I didn’t pressure them for a lower price. This was an advertised special that I took advantage of. Once the Item was mine, I’m free to do with as I please. Just because this worked in my favor, it’s immoral or stealing? How’s my making a profit on this router any different than a retailed buying from a distributor and then marking up the price themselves. The only difference is that I don’t run a business.

Your last Paragraph goes beyond reasonable argument, based on the fact that you start to suggest hatred and racism. I won’t touch your Nazi comment. My views on advertising has nothing to do with my general political views. It has to do with my opinion on businesses force feeding me crap in attempt to sell me their product. Ever heard of Truth in advertising, and how it doesn’t exist? Well I’ve had it with the bullshit advertising so many corporations force feed onto the public. Creating a market for more crap I don’t need through clever advertising.

And lastly it's not black and white. I can be pro capitalism, and be against certain aspects of it, and vice versa.
